James M. Peppe
Jim Peppe, a principal of the firm, concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law and business transactions.
In his corporate practice, Mr. Peppe serves as general outside counsel to a wide range of companies and senior executives. Mr. Peppe’s corporate representation includes drafting and reviewing all types of contracts, corporate governance, leasing, licensing, financing, and structuring and drafting complex limited liability company, partnership, and joint venture agreements.
Mr. Peppe’s transactional experience spans all aspects of business transactions, including negotiating and drafting the letter of intent, reviewing and completing the due diligence process, negotiating and drafting the purchase agreement, and closing the transaction. He regularly advises and represents clients in mergers, acquisitions, sales, reorganizations, and recapitalizations.
In addition to his corporate and transactional practices, Mr. Peppe provides estate planning services, including the preparation of wills, trusts, medical directives, powers of attorney, family partnerships, and the probating of estates.
Mr. Peppe received his B.A. in economics from Duke University in 1994, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa; his M.A. in economics from the University of Michigan in 1999; his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 2000, cum laude; and his LL.M. from New York University in 2004.
Mr. Peppe is admitted to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, where he currently serves as Co-Chair of the Business Law Section.
Mr. Peppe was selected by his peers as a Maryland Super Lawyers Rising Star in business and corporate law in 2009 and 2010. He speaks regularly on corporate law topics to continuing education and other groups.
